This this this. Finally! God bless our troops and for everything they do.

Yes, God bless our troops for everything they do until they’re discharged and come home and can’t find a job and then they’re just lazy bums and their children can starve. Sincerely, The Republican Party

Doesn’t look like less than minimum wage to me.

So, let’s take a married E-5, with six years of service, stationed at San Diego, CA:
Base Pay: $2,205.30Housing Allowance: $1535Food Allowance: $267.18Family Separation Allowance: $250Hazardous Duty Pay: $225Hardship Duty Pay: $100Total: $4,582.48 per month, or $54,989.76 per year, tax-free

But Republicans lying and seeking to misinform is nothing new.

Yeah, I keep hearing this get repeated - that soldiers make minimum wage, therefore fast food workers don’t deserve a raise. Two things:
1) As shown above, demonstrably false.
2) Even if it was true - and it’s not - there’s nothing stopping the soldiers from protesting to increase their wages. Fast food employees have been organizing, rallying, and speaking out for years now. Keeping McDonald’s employees from making more money than you won’t earn you any more money.

One of my friends… well, former friends (who is currently a Marine) from elementary school posted this on facebook and I got into a “discussion” with him about it. He tried to go all “I’m forced to live off less than that” (Bull. You’re a member of the United States Military. You get housing, food, and necessities paid for. I know. That’s part of why I’m going into the Air Force) and “They should have done something more productive with their lives” and “Everyone can get into the military. It’s just a matter of whether they work hard enough.”
I posted a big long explanation about how not everyone is born able-bodied and able-minded with a family that can afford to have them leave.
I haven’t gotten a response.
